With around a quarter of Year 6 pupils not hitting age-related expectations in maths* - making the move from primary to secondary school can be daunting. Supporting these children in making positive progress requires specialist knowledge of the earlier curriculum, something in which Year 7+ teachers may not feel equipped or confident.
Securing Foundations at Year 7 is designed to address these challenges – providing teachers with the knowledge of KS1 and KS2 curriculum and pedagogy, to help identify, and act on, the gaps in pupils’ understanding.
All workshops will be held from 09:00 to 16:00, in person, at GLOW Maths Hub HQ, Balcarras School, GL53 8QF.
This year, the programme will be led by Steve Lomax (pictured above) - founding member of the GLOW Maths Hub, Securing Foundations national cohort lead, experienced secondary teaching professional and general, all-round maths enthusiast and passionate that all students can achieve in mathematics.
