Who can take part?
Workshops are open to all teachers from any secondary/middle school that has completed its first year of the Secondary Teaching for Mastery (TfM) programme.
It all starts with collaborative planning; working together, within your maths department, to develop and deliver the very best lesson structures, content and outcomes for your students. Through the creation of a supportive, professional learning environment, it’s about making the most of the skills, experience and resources within your team; promoting greater understanding and cohesion amongst colleagues, and a more consistent, confident experience for students in the classroom.
*Workshops are funded by the Department for Education and free to state schools in England.
Taking place at locations across the GLOW region, all events are led by our Local Leaders of Maths Education (LLMEs). Our LLME team is made up of school teachers, like you, who have a passion for maths and are fully accredited as TfM Mastery Specialists.
Come and explore the following maths topics with us:
All schools that have completed the first year of the TfM programme (Secondary TfM Development), are eligible to join in. Any/all teacher(s) from your school are welcome to take part and can register for as many workshops as you like. There is no limit.
Listen to our 5 minute video from Jenny Cains, GLOW Assistant Maths Hub Lead, to find out more about how the workshops could support your school.

"My lower confidence children are able to recognise patterns and subitise"
"There has been a noticeable and marked improvement in the speed and accuracy of children’s subitising skills and knowledge of number bonds"
"Children are talking more about the relationships between numbers and using this to solve problems more confidently"
This feedback comes from some of the 8000 schools that are already benefitting from our national Mastering Number programme.
This programme aims to strengthen the understanding of number, and fluency with number facts, among children in Reception and Years 1 and 2. It's about helping to develop solid number sense, which will have a lasting impact on future learning for all children. Mastering Number offers high quality, professional development for teachers - with three live, online sessions hosted by the NCETM's Primary team, supplemented by locally led sessions across the academic year.
Headteachers and maths leads will also be invited to attend two sessions – one at the beginning of the year and one in the summer term – supporting your school to implement and embed Mastering Number with maximum impact.
GLOW Live is a primary school, open classroom event that gives teachers the opportunity to see our Teaching for Mastery (TfM) programme in action.
