Let’s talk maths! Keynote: Victoria Osbourne - Maths Area Lead, Meridian Trust

The theme of this year’s MathsFest is ‘Let’s talk maths’ – bringing a voice to the topic of oracy. Our keynote speaker is Victoria Osbourne, Maths Area Lead for Meridian Trust and a Secondary Mastery Specialist for the Cambridge Maths Hub. Victoria has been part of the NCETM‘s national research group for oracy in maths and will be sharing her insights and learnings from this important work.

About Victoria

Photo of Victoria Osbourne

Victoria (pictured left) has taught maths in primary, middle and secondary schools; more recently, supporting special schools to develop a student-led mathematics curriculum. She trained as a Maths Hubs Secondary Mastery Specialist (SMS) in 2016 and currently leads Teaching for Mastery (TfM) Work Groups for Cambridge Maths Hub. In her role as Maths Area Lead, Victoria’s responsibilities include trust-wide shared curriculum, subject-specific professional development and in-school support. A particular area of interest is the overlap between disciplinary talk and developing problem-solving skills at key stages 3 and 4.

Workshop sessions

During the event, we’ll also be running a range of practical workshops for you to get involved in – led by our Local Leaders of Maths Education (LLMEs)/Mastery Specialists and national leaders from across the maths education landscape. Please see a summary of the sessions, listed below.
