What is Mastering Number?
This programme aims to strengthen the understanding of number, and fluency with number facts, among children in Reception and Years 1 and 2. It's about helping to develop solid number sense, which will have a lasting impact on future learning for all children. Mastering Number offers high quality, professional development for teachers - with three live, online sessions hosted by the NCETM's Primary team, supplemented by locally led sessions across the academic year.
Headteachers and maths leads will also be invited to attend two sessions – one at the beginning of the year and one in the summer term – supporting your school to implement and embed Mastering Number with maximum impact.
Who can apply?
All primary/first schools* can apply, as long as they have not previously participated in the programme.
What does it cost?
There is no charge for schools wishing to participate in the programme. Online resources will be provided for each school, to support the teaching of daily Mastering Number sessions in your classroom.
