Despite leaving secondary school many years ago feeling I was rubbish at Maths, I have learnt to love teaching the subject, and have relished the opportunities over the years to discuss and develop my own Maths. Being a man in the 1980s, I was given Maths to lead as soon as I joined my first school. This was a shock at the time but has brought an enormous amount of joy to my life, including visits to Shanghai and being inspired by hundreds of enthusiastic teachers and thousands of children. I have been working as a Mastery Specialist in schools around Gloucestershire and Worcestershire for ten years and leading Maths in Primary Schools since 1997! My passion is encouraging all children to enjoy Maths and, by showing my belief in them, allowing them to believe in their ability to achieve.
