University of Gloucestershire

I joined the University of Gloucestershire in 2008 as a member of the primary maths team, teaching PGCE and BEd student teachers. Prior to that I had been a primary teacher for 16 years in Cambridgeshire and Swindon, and a maths subject lead for some of that time. I have been involved in two maths publications, Little People Big Maths (ATM 2009), and a chapter in Teaching the Primary Curriculum (Sage publications 2021).  In 2019, I gained NCETM PD Lead accreditation. I been involved with the Maths Hub since their formation and have led the TA SKTM each year from the beginning. I participated as a local facilitator in EEF research into developing mathematics children with Y2 children with Nunes and Bryant at Oxford University from 2015 – 2018.  I really enjoy enabling others to gain deep maths subject knowledge and to understand how to use representation and structure to enhance children’s understanding of mathematics.
