Primary Assistant Maths Hub (AMHL)
Polly Woodman has been a Primary Teacher since 2009 and has worked at Glenfall Primary School in Cheltenham since 2010, primarily in Year 2 and with a number of years as the Maths Subject Leader there. Her teaching in Maths is underpinned by the principles of Teaching for Mastery and she strives to instil a love of Maths in the children she teaches, giving them the confidence and skills to tackle new concepts. Polly started working with the GLOW Maths Hub in 2016 as an Early Years Work Group Lead, working with Early Years practitioners from across the GLOW region on developing effective pedagogy and subject knowledge whilst exploring how good Early Years practice can work alongside the principles of Teaching for Mastery. In 2018 she started working as an Assistant Maths Hub Lead for GLOW and was excited to be able to take part in the training alongside the Primary Mastery Specialists with NCETM, learning more about the 5 Big Ideas of Teaching for Mastery and then completing the NCETM Professional Development Lead Accreditation. She has worked with teachers in their own settings, planning collaboratively with them and supporting them to develop their lesson design. Through her role as an Assistant Maths Hub Lead, Polly works alongside GLOW's fantastic team of Primary Mastery Specialists, providing support and encouraging them in their work as Local Leaders of Maths Education.
