Balcarras Trust and Balcarras Teaching School Hub

Steve is the hub’s Senior Lead and ISP Lead for the GLOW Maths Hub, based at Balcarras School. He has been working with headteachers, subject leaders, teachers, and pupils for over thirty years. Steve firmly believes all children and young people, regardless of their background and prior attainment, can enjoy and achieve in mathematics under the right classroom conditions and culture. He is passionate about fostering positive ‘can do’ attitudes to mathematics, empowering leaders and teachers and championing the transformational impact of teaching for mastery to enable all pupils make sustainable progress. 

Steve is also a NCETM Accredited CPD and School Development Lead and an accredited NPQ programme facilitator. He has been a national lead facilitator of the DfE Maths Hub Teaching for Mastery programme and is currently a Cohort Lead  the national NCETM Maths School Development lead Programme and Regional Community Lead for the national NCETM Securing Foundations at Year 7 project.
