Join the GLOW Leadership team and shape the future of Reception maths

If you’re committed to excellent Early Years practice and excited by the idea of influencing maths provision on a regional and national level, we’d love to hear from you.  We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Early Years practitioner to join our leadership team and help shape the future of early mathematics across our region.   

Assistant Maths Hub Lead (AMHL) Reception  

As AMHL for Reception, you’d be part of our Maths Hub Leadership and Management team, helping to drive improvements in early maths and make a meaningful difference to children’s outcomes across the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire region.   

Best Start in Life (BSiL)  

The role offers a rare opportunity to work closely with schools, supporting high‑quality early maths provision and contributing directly to the Government’s Best Start in Life strategy. You’ll play a key part in ensuring Reception practice is inclusive, developmentally appropriate and focused on building strong mathematical foundations for every child.

Time commitment
  • Up to 5 days for AMHL training in the summer term 2026/27
  • 20-40 days in AMHL role for academic year 2026/27 (0.5 to 1 day per week equivalent)  
  • 4 days Professional Development Lead or School Development Lead accreditation training (as required)

The AMHL role is offered as a secondment for 20 days across the academic year in 2026/27, at an agreed day rate, paid to the seconding school/institution*.  There is also the opportunity to increase this by a further 20 days, to deliver elements of the BSiL programmes run by GLOW Maths Hub.  In addition to this, the successful candidate will be required to take part in up to five days training* during the Summer Term 2026 and is expected to take part in the NCETM's PD Lead or SD Lead accreditation, as required.

*The AMHL role and training is fully funded by the Department for Education.
